Anderson VFD Cook-Off this weekend

The Anderson Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an IBCA sanctioned Championship BBQ Cook-Off fundraiser at the Grimes County Expo Center, 5220 FM 3455, in Navasota Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2.

Friday night there will be a dance with live music provided by The Risky Liver Band. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the band will play from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. There will be a $10 cover at the door and drinks are BYOB.

The cookoff will feature a three-meat category, beans and open. Entry for three meats is $200, $25 for beans and $25 for open. There will also be a steak shootout Friday Night with a $50 entry. The steak will be provided.
