8-year old escapes attempted kidnapping
An eight-year old boy eluded an attempted kidnapping Saturday, Aug. 21, at his home on the 14000 block of County Road 304.
Grimes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at approximately 1 p.m. for an attempted kidnapping. According to a press release from GCSO, the eight-year old was reportedly taking trash to a receptacle at the roadway of their residence.
An older model white Ford pickup pulled into the driveway. A white male with a mustache approached the boy and asked him to get into the vehicle with him. When the child refused, the male allegedly dropped a baggie onto the ground. The child picked it up and attempted to return it back to the man. The man grabbed him by the arm and told him to get in the truck, but the child was able to pull away from the suspect and the suspect returned to the vehicle and fled northbound on CR 304 toward the Stoneham area.
The suspect was described as having a mustache, wearing blue jeans, a blue jean button-up jacket and Nike shoes.
Deputies patrolled the area heavily but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description.
