William ‘Floyd’ Hurry, 89, of Richards, TX passed away on April 23, 2021. Floyd was born in Richards, TX on January 23, 1932 to William Monroe and Celia Belle Hurry.
Floyd lived in Richards until his parents moved the family to Houston where he graduated from Sam Houston High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard and served in Korea for two years during the Korean War. Following Floyd’s return to Houston in 1953, he began working for Shell Oil Co where he worked until his retirement in 1986. 1953 was also the year that he met and married the love of his life, Thala ‘Terri’ De-Woody, who worked for Shell at the time.
When Floyd retired from Shell Oil, he moved back to Richards with Terri where they spent many happy years together. They both loved traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Floyd was a truly kind, gentle man who was a wonderful son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Floyd is survived by his brother Carl Hurry; daughters, Cathy Wilson & husband Jerry, and Lynda Muzyka and husband Alton; son, William ’Bill’ Hurry; grandchildren, Cyndi Eckerdt (husband Joe and their son Arthur), Becca Ounekeo (husband Rex), Michelle Wooddell (daughter Hannah), Renee Grant Musso (husband Patrick), Monica Sanders (husband Scott), Mike Muzyka, Marcus Muzyka (wife Rachel and their children Adaline, Alli, Vanessa and Emma).
