St. Mary/St. Joseph will once again host a 13-week GriefShare program on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 4 through April 28. These sessions will be held in the Family Life Center at St. Mary’s in Plantersville in Room 202 from 10 a.m. till noon. The program welcomes all who have experienced a loss of a loved one in their life. The foundation for the program is based on Community, Understanding, Support and Encouragement. You do not have to be Catholic to attend. Our Facilitators understand and have experienced what you are currently going through. They will offer comfort and encouragement during this difficult time while sharing the knowledge to help you move forward. GriefShare teachings are biblical based on grief and recovery topics. The Anderson Food Pantry exists to serve those in need of food assistance in Grimes County and throughout the Brazos Valley. They are open the first Thursday of each month, which will be Feb. 6, 9 a.m. till noon and 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. or by appointment. In addition to food distribution, our pantry also extends unlimited free clothing and household items to our clients. For more information, please call 936-873-5005.
Anderson-Shiro Elementary is announcing the upcoming Daddy-Daughter Dance set for Friday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. This special event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Anderson. The cost is $20 per couple and $5 for each additional girl. Tickets bought at the door that evening will be $15 per person. You can also purchase a printed photo for $5. Dads, grandfathers, uncles or a special person in our pre-K through fifth grade girls’ life are invited to join in for a fun night of dinner, dancing and desserts. A pasta and salad dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. till 7 p.m. followed by a sweet dessert buffet. The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. till noon at the Expo Center in Navasota. Only residents of the county may participate. Proof of residency is required.
Get ready for the 5th Annual Sweetheart Valentine’s Senior Concert and Dance, hosted by the St. Mary’s Guardian Angels senior group, set for Friday, Feb. 14. from 7 p.m. till 11 p.m. in the parish hall at St. Mary’s in Plantersville. Come and enjoy the music of Bill Mock and the Highway 105 Band featuring Country and Pop hits of the 50s and 60s. You may choose to sit and just enjoy the music or better yet, relive the past with your “SWEETHEART” on the dance floor. Cost of this great night of fine entertainment is $10 per person.
