Owls complete non district undefeated
GRANGER- The Anderson-Shiro Owls have elevated their game to new heights and completed their non district portion of the schedule undefeated with a 42-10 thumping over the Granger Lions.
Anderson-Shiro (5-0) continued their dominance on defense and exploited the Lions with their ground game.
Zacarrius Haynes didn’t slack on his impressive season thus far adding another 5 touchdowns in this game on 29 carries and 291 rushing yards.
The hard-hitting Owl defense held the Lions to 125 yards with 87 on the ground and 38 through the air.
“I was proud of our ability to go on the road and overcome all the distractions that go along with that and still be able to control the game like we did,” said Owl head coach Brad Hodges. “Early on we gave them a few things that led to their only success of the night, but we cleaned it up and were able to reassert control.
Hodges said that film study was an integral part in the preparation this week. “We saw some things on film that we felt like we could exploit and it’s a credit to our coaches and players that they went out and executed the way they did. Offensively we were able to take advantage of some things they were doing which allowed us to have another big night from the offensive line and rushing attack.”
The Owls get a much needed open-week before beginning District 12-3A-II play on the road against the Hemphill Hornets Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Granger host the Johnson Jaguars Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.
