Local injured by bull
The big news this week is the graduation of Garrett Inmon who graduated from Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, Friday, Sept.6. His parents Rodney and Gena Inmon and his sister Rilie attended the ceremony. They were there for several days before and after graduation. He is now in San Antonio. May God bless him as he continues his Navy career.
I was sorry to learn of David Chaney’s accident Thursday, Sept. 5. He was badly injured by a bull that he and his wife Virginia were attempting to load. As a result, he suffered a broken hip and other injuries. Life flight was called to transport him to an area hospital. He will have to spend time in rehab. Remember him in your prayers.
Upcoming events in the community include the monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club at the Keith Community Center Thursday, Sept. 26. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting. All members are urged to attend, and visitors are always invited. Come out and meet with your friends and neighbors.
As some of you know the Keith dump site will be closing Saturday, Sept. 28. The site has been open since 2002 and has served the area since then. When it first opened the first customer to visit was Rev. Bill Adkisson, the pastor of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Back then dumping trash was 50 cents per bag. I will be working at the Iola dump the same hours and days, Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The Iola dump will also be open Wednesdays with Nick Halley working that day. Hopefully I will see you there. My first day in Iola will be Monday, Sept. 30.
