‘We’re going to Disney World!’

Now before you get too excited or before you wonder what we’re doing up here, we’re NOT really going to Disney World.

But, have you ever heard someone say that? It usually comes after a team wins a championship like the Super Bowl or the World Series (Go Astros!). They’re interviewing the winning quarterback, or the Series MVP and the reporter asks the genius question, “What are you going to do now that you just won the big game?” To which the excited athlete yells, “We’re going to Disney World!”

Walt Disney is quoted as saying:

“Many hands, hearts, and minds generally contribute to anyone’s notable achievements.”

If you have ever been to Disney World, or if you ever get the chance to go, look around and pay attention to all of the staff members who work at “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Except they’re not called staff members or employees. They are called “cast members.” That’s because every single person, from the person dressed up as Mickey Mouse, to the people working the rides, to the people in charge of cleaning the restrooms has a part in making sure that every single “guest” has a “magical” experience the moment they step foot on Disney property.

Lee Cockerell, who is the former Executive vice president of Operations with the Walt Disney World Resort, says in his book Creating Magic, “It’s not the magic that makes it work, it’s the way we work that makes it magic.”

I know what you’re thinking, If I worked at Disney World, I’d be happy all the time, too! Well, let’s stop and think about that. At Disney World, you must be at the top of your game all the time. You don’t get to have a bad day when you work for Disney. If you do, you won’t be working for Disney anymore!

There are a lot of folks that work very hard every day to help us do what we do here at Navasota ISD. And I am very thankful for each one of them. Without them, the “process” doesn’t happen. Trust the process! Thanks for all you do!
