Keith dumpsite closing
Well there are several college students that returned to class on or around Monday, Aug. 26. God bless them as they continue their education. Those of whom I am aware are Peyton Ray Brown and Allie Rose Johnson. I am sure there are others.
The membership of the Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star had their monthly meeting at the Pyramind Masonic Lodge No. 593 in North Zulch, Monday, Aug. 26, with a fair number in attendance. The meal served at 6:30 p.m. was enjoyed by all present. The business meeting at 7:30 p.m. was attended by members and visitors. A variety of business was discussed and acted on.
The meeting of the Keith Civic Club was held Thursday, Aug. 22, beginning with a covered dish meal enjoyed by all present. Members were told of the expense incurred in having the air conditioner replaced. Members were invited to give money to replace the expense that cost $2,500. Any assistance is appreciated.
David Cain was a guest speaker at Evergreen Baptist Church during the morning and evening services Sunday, Aug. 25. Those that missed the services really missed a blessing. Cain sang a variety of songs and preached. Following the evening service, homemade and Blue Bell ice cream was served. Everyone had a wonderful time.
I am sorry to learn that Scott McDougald, an Iola football player, suffered a broken leg about two-weeks ago during a football game. I am sure he will be out of commission for the remainder of the season. Remember him in your prayers as he recovers. Also remember the other players in your prayers as well.
The Keith dump site on CR 172 will be closing at the end of September because it is losing money. I have been working at the dumpsite since July 2002, over 17 years. Except for the time I had open heart surgery, I was there most of the time. All good things must come to an end. I will now work the dumpsite in Iola on the same days I was working here until I retire. Hope to see you there.
Two of us in Keith, Nell Rose Halley and myself, recently underwent eye surgery. We both had our eyes operated on for cataracts. Everything went well for both of us.
