Twenty years ago, July 1, 1999, Fr. Edward C. Kucera, Jr., better known as “Fr. Ed,” was assigned to the parishes of St. Mary’s in Plantersville and St. Joseph’s in Stoneham. In honor of his 20-year anniversary as pastor of both churches, parishioners got together and threw a big party Friday, July 12, to celebrate the special event. Approximately 500 were in attendance to enjoy a chicken and sausage meal with all the trimmings, homemade pies and beverages. Bill Mock and his collage of musicians provided the live entertainment to dance or listen to under the pavilion. James Smock, a longtime friend of these parishes, has taken pictures at so many events over the last 20 years and decided to put together a collage of over 1,000 photos he took. The presentation was running during dinner to enjoy which brought back lots of memories over the years. Congratulations to Fr. Ed who is so special to so many and loved by all Catholics as well as non-Catholics.
