The “Sounds of Summer” free concert series in downtown Navasota concludes Friday, June 28, with the Brown Sugar Band taking the stage at 6:30 p.m. Food trucks will be available onsite and lawn chairs and coolers are welcome.

Prepare to dance the night away at the Navasota Girl Scout Troop 9067 Community Sock Hop at the Navasota Community Center June 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased from any girl scout in the troop or by calling 979-739-5414. The fundraiser is to help the troop visit Savannah, Georgia, the birthplace of girl scout founder Juliette Gordan Low and where the first girl scout troop originated.

I’m sorry to announce the “Old Ship of Zion” play at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia is postponed until after the director’s daughter’s surgery. I will keep you updated with a rescheduled date and time.

A Freedom Festival will be held Saturday, July 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in historic Montgomery, TX. There will be a parade, barbecue cookoff, baking contest etc.

“Cheers to Craft Beer” will host its fifth annual craft beer tasting in downtown Bryan on July 20, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event features beer tastings inside of downtown retail stores and restaurants. St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville will celebrate its 125th Homecoming Bazaar Sunday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is located at 8227 CR 205.
