Myrtle was born in Anderson on July 17, 1931 to Otto and Mary (Wehmeier) Schroeder. She was baptized August 30, 1931 by Rev. H.E. Spitzenpheil and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on April 15, 1945 by Rev. L. Karcher. Myrtle's confirmation verse was Hebrew 13:5, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

On February 7, 1948, Myrtle married Edwin William Thane at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they raised 2 daughters. Myrtle was a woman of faith and was immensely proud of her family. She was a devoted wife of 62 years, loving mother and adoring grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin Thane and siblings Esther Kornegay, Albin Schroeder, Walter Schroeder, Henry Schroeder and Oscar Schroeder.

On behalf of the family, we deeply appreciate the care and compassion shown by caregiver Debbie Jollisant, the staff at Woodhaven Village and Devotion Hospice.
