Free summertime meals
Mayor Bert Miller presented Navasota ISD Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick, and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Ronnie Gonzalez, with a proclamation recognizing the importance of the “Healthy Summer Meals for Kids” program. The federally funded community outreach program administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture provides a free breakfast and lunch in an effort to ensure that “no child goes hungry” during the summer.
Navasota ISD hosts the summer program and serves the meals at Webb Elementary Monday-Thursday, June 10-27 and July 7-18.
Miller told Musick and Gonzalez, “We appreciate that the school takes this on and it is another part of services that the school provides.”
Musick said, “Anybody that comes that’s a school age child, even if their daycare is bringing kids over or their VBS is bringing kids over, we can feed them breakfast and lunch and we get reimbursed for those meals. We love to welcome any school-age children.”
Parents may eat at a reduced-price.
