The annual Easter egg hunt at the Iola Community Center was canceled this last weekend due to adverse weather. You can follow the Iola Community Center Facebook page for the latest updates.
•The track meet that was scheduled for April 13 in Anderson has been rescheduled for May 4, due to weather.
•There will be no school Friday, April 19, or on Monday April 22.
•Kindergarten, Pre-k, and new student registration will be May 29. Pre-k registration is for children who are turning 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2019, and meet one of the following criteria. Child is from a low-income household, homeless or foster care, parent is a member of the military, Star of Texas Award recipient, or is unable to understand or speak English well. For kindergarten, the child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2019. The new student registration is for students who have never registered in Iola Independent School District. This event will take place at the Iola Elementary School computer lab, located near the old gym and playground.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, for Pre-k and kindergarten, and 1 to 3 p.m. for new students. You will need to bring all of the following in order to register: birth certificate, Immunization record, Social Security card, parent/guardian driver’s license, proof of address (Pre-k must live in district) and proof of income (Pre-k only).
•The Grimes County Horse Show will be May 29 through May 31, starting at 7 p.m. each evening at the Grimes County Fairgrounds. The whole community is invited to come out and support our youth.
