SYDNEY LAYNE ARTHUR 2001 – 2023
Sydney Layne Arthur was born September 10, 2001, in Houston, TX, to Todd and Donna Arthur of Navasota. A Nursing student at Hill College, Sydney was the girl who wanted to try everything – such as volleyball, basketball, showing pigs, snow skiing, and anything else. According to her brother, Forrest, she was terrible at all these things, but finally found her passion in her love for horses. Sydney began riding horses and joined her family in the rodeo world at only 8 years old. Over the years, she strengthened her love of rodeo, becoming an accomplished and respected barrel racer.
Sydney was the perfect blend of classy and sassy, lighting every room she entered with her infectious smile. To know her was to love her, and she never met a stranger. Sydney would strike up a genuine conversation with every person she met. If there was a competition for having the biggest heart, Sydney would have crushed that competition hands down with her natural beauty - both inside and out. If Syd considered you one of her ‘people’, she would love you big and make sure you knew that she would do anything for you, even if she had to drive across the country to do it. She never walked away without saying ‘I love you’ and made everyone feel like they were her best friend, especially if they were in the ‘Sydney’s Black & White & Always Right!’ Club. She truly left her mark on the hearts of so many during her short 22 years on this earth.
Sydney went to meet her Lord and Savior September 28, 2023. She is survived by her parents Todd and Donna Arthur; brother, Forrest Fisher; sister-in-law, Whitley; and her sweet nephew due March 2024; the man who stole her heart, boyfriend, Boudreaux Campbell; grandma, Ludeen Sweeney; grandparents, Ronnie and RosemaryArthur, Jim Boy and Michele Harrington and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Harry Sweeney, and “Grandma” Mellman.
She leaves behind her horses, Cool Hand and Halliburton, and will be laid to rest with her beloved dog, Ozzie.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Home in Navasota, Texas. The service will be held at the Grimes County Fairgrounds Thursday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. with a celebration with friends and family to follow the services. Burial to follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Hempstead.
Pallbearers are Austin Atkinson, Kolby Avery, Jace Bland, Reno Gonzales, Shane Philipp, Shad Mayfield, Taylor Hurst, Tyson Thompson, Garett Chick, Tanner Tomlinson, Cyle Denison and Clay Rotello. Honorary pallbearers are Ali Armstrong, Molly Atkinson, Cassidy Boggs, Saige Brown, Katy Cotton, Madison Daley, Jordi Edens, Whitley Fisher, Carson Fitzmorris, Sydney Frey, Whitney Profili and Bailey Taylor.
Sydney will be missed but never forgotten as she loved unconditionally and spread her love and joy to all those whom she called friend.
