The Owls rule the roost
SNOOK - The Anderson- Shiro fighting Owls dominated Friday night for their second consecutive 50-plus point shutout win, defeating the Snook Bluejays 52-0.
Owl quarterback Connor Daley continued his hot streak with 187 yards on 11-for-13 passing. He had touchdown passes of 7 and 12 yards. Running back Jarvis Haynes had dominating touchdown runs of 11, 12, and 4 yards. Ta’Colton Calhoun, Christian Schroeder, Kieran Gill, Ty Sechelski, Will Lee and Logan Jackson each added touchdowns or conversions for the Owl offense. In three games 11 different Owl players have scored touchdowns.
Defensively the Owls held the Bluejays to 73 yards of total offense. Pedro Martinez came up big for the Owls despite a pregame thumb injury. He had 13 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. Jordan Coronado had five tackles with three being for loss. Ta’Colby Calhoun was a ball hawk accounting for three pass break ups and five tackles. This season the Owl Defense has dominated their opponents. Defensively, the Owls have not allowed an offensive touchdown and they have only given up 183 yards of total offense to 3 opposing teams.
Head Owl Coach Brad Hodges cited strong starts and his staff’s hard work for the three wins. “I am so proud of how we have come out and played early this season,” said Hodges. “The wins are a testament to players buying in, the team’s hard work in the heat, and the coaching staff’s game plan preparation week in and week out.”
The Owls face the Evadale Rebels in deep East Texas this Friday. “This will be a long road trip for us,” said Hodges. “It is a good test for our team as it simulates the upcoming district road games. Evadale is a strong, dangerous team looking to upset our season. We must stay focused on the Rebels.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Evadale. As always, if you cannot make the road trip, you can follow along for live updates and short videos on the Navasota Examiner Sports Facebook page.
