Rattler JV dominate Navarro
GERONIMO – Navasota Junior Varsity scored early and often to take a commanding 24-0 lead into halftime and seal a 30-12 win over the Navarro Panthers to begin the season.
Defense scored first for the Rattlers as sophomore Eli Jennings picked of a Panther pass and returned it 69 yards.
Grayson Munoz capped a 56-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. Navasota scored twice more in the half, a 9-yard run by Sean Acosta and a 14-yard scramble from freshman quarterback Jace Jablonski.
Navasota scored once in the second half. KT Garrett escaped for a 16-yard run.
Rattler JV Head Coach Ed Glendening credited Rodney Spinks and Christian Garcia for their play on the offensive line.
“Jablonski was extremely accurate with his passing all night,” said Glendening. He said tight end Jaxson Bowman and wide receiver Jennings both had standout games catching the ball.
Defensively Navasota was led by Jennings, Jamarious Thomas and Munoz. Glendening said Jennings, Thomas, Spinks and Jablonski are JV players of the week.
Navasota plays at Madisonville 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.
