Baptism held at Evergreen Baptist

A baptism for Steven Chavez was held at the end of service at Evergreen Baptist Church Aug. 13. The baptism was performed by the church’s pastor, Rev. Jeff Morgan. Ray and Kathy Chapman also joined the church. It is good to have them as members.

Bobby and Darlene Trant recently returned from a visit to Colorado. They visited their son Blane, his wife Amber and their two sons, Maddox and Ryan. They had a wonderful time with all of them. They said temperatures were in the 40’s. It sure is a lot different than what we have here in Texas. Another person whose son lives in Tennessee said temperatures drop to the 60’s at night. I sure wish we could have the same.

There was recently a wedding in the area. Stephen Smith and Alexia Good were united in marriage Friday, Aug. 4, a Peach Creek Ranch in College Station Stephen is the son of Billy and Cynthia Smith of Keith. Best wishes t0 as they begin their lives together.

Area residents of Keith were sorry to learn of the death of Jon Karl Proskine who passed away Monday, Aug. 14, following a brief illness. He was born May 11, 1950. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmlita Proskine and his mother Julie Marie Proskine Pecoraro. By his wishes, his body was taken to Wade Funeral Home in Arlington. He will be buried in the Veterans Cemetery in Arlington where his wife is buried. His mother is buried in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a memorial service held in the Keith area at a later date. Do remember his friends and loved ones in your prayers.

Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No. 458 will have their monthly meeting at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge in North Zulch Monday, Aug. 28. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal. The business meeting will follow. All members of the Eastern Star are invited to attend.

Pyramid Masonic Lodge No. 593 in North Zulch held their monthly meeting Aug. 15, with a good number of members and visitors attending. The meal was enjoyed by all. After the meal was the business meeting. One of the items discussed was a security system. More on that later.
