Nearly every year my cousin Jan McIntyre Walz comes to the States to visit family and friends. Her and her husband, Gunter Walz, arrived March 22. Gunter had to return back to Germany Easter Sunday, but Jan will stay until April 23. On Saturday Jan and her sister Charlotte McIntyre Johnson drove from Charlotte’s home in League City to Dobbin to visit with more cousins. Gathering at the home of Darrell Herzog for lunch were Jan and Charlotte, Tootsie Herzog Mock, Aleen Herzog Mock, Ann Herzog McDuffie, Betty Keasling Lott, Debbie Hoffart and myself, Gail Hoffart Sowell, along with my granddaughter Brooklyn Branch.
All of us cousins brought a favorite dish to go along with Darrell’s chicken spaghetti. This dish was special because it was the recipe Cecile McIntyre, Jan and Charlotte’s mom. They said it was delicious and just like their mom prepared it. Afterward, Jan and Charlotte came to my house in Anderson for a nice afternoon visit with Don and I. Then they went to Navasota to visit with friend Cynthia Shive Todd and to The Western Club for more visiting. It was a beautiful day.
