First Presbyterian hosts special meeting

Approximately 135 pastors and elders from the 39 counties of the Presbytery of New Covenant attended the tri-annual business meeting at Navasota’s First Presbyterian Church Saturday, March 18. Among the policy and mission items included on the administrative body’s agenda was the interview of a pastoral candidate. This was the first time Navasota’s First Presbyterian successfully hosted the event. The first attempt in the 1800s was canceled because of the yellow fever epidemic. Torrential rains in the 1900s caused the church to flood resulting in cancellation of their second meeting.
