Rattler JV pounce past Blackcats
BAY CITY – After a scoreless half, the Navasota Junior Varsity Rattlers scored three second-half touchdowns to defeat Bay City, 22-6, and remain undefeated.
Navasota (6-0, 2-0) scored in the third quarter on a 5-yard run by quarterback Grayson Munoz. Cameron Burrell Jr. ran in the conversion. Burrell scored twice in the final quarter on runs of one and 63 yards. The first conversion failed, but Munoz ran in the second conversion.
“The offense struggled early but after some halftime adjustments we started to figure it out and got the run game going,” said Rattler JV Head Coach Grant Glendening. “Munoz, Burrell, and Jennings all had strong performances for us carrying the ball on offense. Our whole offensive line stepped up huge led by Christian Garcia. Lots of things to clean up but we are heading in the right direction.”
Glendening said defensively the Rattlers had another strong performance. I was really proud of their perseverance all game long. Eli Jennings and Eric Garcia led the defense in a big win. He named Jennings, Burrell, Munoz and Christian and Eric Garcia as players of the week.
Navasota JV will host Needville Thursday, Oct. 5, at Rattler Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
