Rattler freshman drop district opener

El Campo freshman scored twice in the first half and held on to defeat Navasota freshman 18--14, at Rattler Stadium Sept. 21.

Kyn’navion Chapel scored on a 5-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to trim the lead. Hugo Garcia kicked the point-after to pull within 12-7.

El Campo extended its lead 18-7, early in the fourth quarter. The Rattlers answered with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Wyatt Henry to Kristofer Knighton. Garcia added the extra point to finalize the score 18-14.

The Rattlers were led defensively by Brennan Chastain, 6 Tackles 1 for loss; Terrell Lewis, 7 Tackles 2 for loss; and Davyn Torres, 8 tackles.

Navasota plays at Bay City Thursday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m.
