Navasota clinches third championship

Navasota continues serving up a great start to the 2022 volleyball season, earning a program history third tournament championship in a single season.
The Lady Rattlers (19-6) earned a consolation championship at the Rockdale Volleyball tournament Aug. 25 and 27. During pool play Thursday, Navasota finished 2-1, beating Austin Travis, 2-0 (25-9, 25-14); Milano (25-19, 25-11) before falling to Gateway College Prep 2-1 (24-26, 25-20, 11-25).
Navasota dropped their first bracket game Saturday to Rockdale, 2-0 (20-25, 11-25), but bounced back to beat Bryan JV (25-16, 25-15) and Taylor 2-1 (25-16, 14-25, 25-16) in the consolation championship.
Aug. 23 vs Hempstead
Navasota varsity and junior-varsity teams hosted Hempstead Tuesday, Aug. 23, sweeping the Lady Bobcats.
Varsity won 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-13) while the JV defeated Hempstead 2-0 (25-19, 26-24). The win combined with a win later in the week improves JV to 9-2 on the season.
Aug. 26 vs Stafford All three Lady Rattler volleyball teams were victorious battling the Stafford Lady Spartans Friday, Aug. 26.
Varsity picked up a 3-0 win (25-6, 25-7, 25-12). JV won 2-0 (25-19, 26-24) and the freshman defeated the Lady Bobcats 2-1 to even the season record at 4-4.
Navasota varsity played at Iola Tuesday, Aug. 30 while the freshman hosted Rudder (results were not available at press time). The Lady Rattler varsity plays at North Zulch Friday, Sept. 2, beginning at 4:30 p.m. All three teams will travel to Giddings Tuesday, Sept. 6, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
