Lady Rattler JV finishes first
ANDERSON – It was a dominant week for the Navasota Lady Rattler junior varsity basketball team earning first place at the Anderson-Shiro JV Classic Thursday, Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 11.
The Lady Rattlers opened the tournament with a 52-14 win over Hempstead. Makayla Pratt led Navasota with 12 points followed by Robbie Morton and Jemoreya Warren, who each scored 10.
Navasota fell to Franklin 50-29, later that day. Aniya Stone scored 13 for the Lady Rattlers and Warren chipped in with six.
On Friday Navasota knocked off Sealy 34-20, and Centerville 37-14. Jazzman Thomas led Navasota versus Sealy with eight points and Bantasia Blackshear scored eight. Against Centerville, Blackshear led the way with 13 points followed by Thomas with six.
Saturday Navasota defeated host Anderson-Shiro 39-8 and Bellville 35-6. Jalyn Williams scored 15 against the Lady Owls and Stone added 10. Against Bellville Williams led again with 10 points followed by Thomas with seven. Miracle Montgomery grabbed 10 rebounds.
SMITHVILLE – Navasota defeated Smithville Tuesday, Dec. 7, 43-35. Thomas led the Rattler JV with 12 points, followed by Blackshear with 10. Warren pulled down 12 rebounds.
Navasota Varsity
The Lady Rattler varsity team made easy work of the Smithville Lady Tigers with a 71-27 win. Leading the Lady Rattlers were Bryanna Stokes with 22 points and six assists. Nala Richardson scored 19, had 6 steals and 5 assists. Samia White had 8 points and 5 steals. Tiara McCoy sored 6 and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Navasota’s varsity team will host Crockett Tuesday, Dec. 21, at noon.
