Fangs begin playoffs
Navasota’s seventh grade football teams rolled past the Wellborn Warhawks Monday, Nov. 1, in the first round of the playoffs.
The Fang 7th Grade A Team defeated Wellborn 46-25. Key players in the win were Ja’Marlon Mooring and Kyn’navion Chappel who both had huge runs out of the backfield. Davyn Torres had a great interception tipping the ball back to himself. Isaic Larsen had key defensive stops late in the game.
Navasota’s 7th Grade B Team beat Wellborn 26-6. The Fangs got a big touchdown right before half from Isaias Gomez to Eduardo Castaneda to Fabian Castillo to give the Fangs a two-touchdown lead. Anthony Cortez had a fumble recovery that he rumbled with down the field. Eduardo Castaneda punctuated the night with a hard-running goal line touchdown led by a great push from the offensive line.

Navasota Eighth Grade at Brenham
8th Grade A Team (W) 20-19.
The 8th grade A team finishes their regular season schedule 4-1-2. Key players included running back and defensive back Da’Quann Pratt; offensive lineman Yurenm Lopez; receiver Evan Otto and linebacker Ashton Myles.
8th Grade B Team (L) 12-18.
The 8th grade B team finishes their regular season schedule 5-1-1. Key players included running back Cotton Brigner; offensive lineman Peyton Santiago, receivers Landon Smith and Ethan Perkins; defensive back Jabari Davis and linebacker Branden Mayen.
The 8th grade Fangs played College Station Middle School Tuesday, Nov. 2, (results were not available at press time).
Navasota Seventh Grade vs Brenham
7th Grade A Team (L) 26-39.
The Fang offensive line led dominant smashmouth drives down the field. They were led by Johnny Ruvalcaba and Waylenn Fuqua. The running game was spearheaded by the duo of Jamarlon Mooring and Kyn’navion Chappel. Defensive player of the game was Kyn’navion Chappel who played all over the field.
7th Grade B Team (W) 19-14
Navasota was down 14- 12 with a little over two minutes to go when Luis Vazquez took a Brenham pass to the house for the go ahead pick-six. Great runs from Vazquez, as well as some crucial catches from Cash Fox on the outside.
