Bulldog bats on fire in Bi-District Playoffs
Courtesy photo The Iola Bulldogs notched a 2-0 series win over the West Hardin Oilers in the 2A Bi-District Round of the Playoffs at The Woodlands High School. The Bulldogs won game one 11-1, and game two 11-7.
THE WOODLANDS – Iola secured a 2-0 series win over West Hardin at The Woodlands High School in the 2A Bi-District Round of the playoffs.
The Bulldogs matchup against the Johnson City Eagles at Fireman’s Park in Brenham for the 2A Region IV Area Round. Game one is slated for 7 p.m. Friday, May 12. Game two is Saturday, May 13, with first pitch at 11 a.m.
In game one of the Bi-District Round, senior Easton Evans held the Oilers to one run and only three hits in seven innings to lead the Bulldogs to a 11-1 win. Iola scored nine runs in the first four innings, racking up 12 hits in the game. Grant Goodney led Iola going 2-3 with a double, a pair of runs scored and a trio of RBI’s. Cooper Cadro, Caden Jordan, Weston Roubion and Austin Cavillo each had two hits.
The offense continued in game two as Iola outscored West Hardin 11-7. Evans drove in four runs going 2-4 at the plate with a double. Jordan plated a pair of runs batting 1-4 with a double and two runs scored. Calvillo scored twice and drove in one going 2-3. Roubion went 24 with a run scored and an RBI.
Brody Vaughn picked up the complete- game win allowing seven runs, six earned, six hits while striking out four and allowing four hits.
