Baker recognized for top performances

Kae'ron Baker recently was cited for his basketball play.
The Navasota High School graduate was acknowledged in the top performances in the American Southwest Conference's Dec. 16 weekly report. 
The conference mentioned the Louisiana College junior's 34 points and seven rebounds against Howard Payne and his 21 points, five assists and four steals against Hardin-Simmons. He led players from both teams in points, assists and steals during the win over Hardin-Simmons.
In the team's last game before the holiday break, Baker had 12 points and a team-high four assists in a loss to Centenary College of Louisiana.
As of Dec. 18, Baker ranked third in the conference with a 19.4 scoring average and seventh with a 6.7 rebounding average.

More men's basketball 
Howard Payne University sophomore Kyle Kildare had a career-high 11 rebounds against St. Thomas, leading players from both teams. The Iola High product had six points, one steal and one blocked shot in the start.
Trajan Wesley had three assists and two rebounds in a start for University of Louisiana at Lafayette against Louisiana Tech. The Navasota resident had one point and one steal.

Men's bass fishing
Previously at Anderson-Shiro High, Jackson Carrell teamed with Bryton Kurtz to finish 26th in a Carhartt Bassmaster college event in Dayton, Tenn. They represent Sam Houston State University.
