VFW celebrated 75 years

The House of Representatives introduced bill H.R. 5610 called the Fair Care for Vietnam Veterans Act, which would expand the list of presumptive conditions associated with Agent Orange exposure to include parkinsonism, bladder cancer, hypertension and hyperthyroidism. These were omitted earlier and hopefully will be added with this bill.

On the local scene, Grimes County Veterans of Foreign War Post 4006 celebrated its 75th year as a chartered entity. An evening of socializing, a catered dinner, and a program were presented to members and guests from the city of Navasota, Grimes County, city of Plantersville, local supporters of the Post, VFW District 17 personnel and past Post Commanders, to name just a few. Tony Lambert, the present Commander of the Post was the keynote speaker and presidential proclamations along with lapel pins recognizing 50 years since the Vietnam War, were presented to all Vietnam Era Veterans in attendance. Pictures of the event were published in last weeks’ edition of The Examiner.

VFW Post 4006 and American Legion Post 460 extend invitations to eligible veterans to check out their organizations and join them as they continue to work with and aid other veterans, our communities and youth organizations.
