Today, like every day
Superintendent’s Update
Today ... like every day ... was a great day to be a Rattler!
We had the pleasure of working alongside 30 educators, on two separate committees, as we interviewed seven candidates for the positions of Elementary Campus Principal. While it was a long day, it was so incredible to see how these two committees worked together with one another on their individual campus committee, and then, work together as a combined group to move toward two common goals: do what’s best for students, and do what’s best for Navasota ISD!
The process began over a month ago with 32 applicants. That was narrowed down to 20 certified and qualified individuals. Then, that number was narrowed down to 15 for initial first-round interviews this past Friday. After Friday, that list was narrowed down to seven to bring to the two committees for a second-round interview.
Our goal is to bring four candidates back for a third-round interview this next week and then ultimately hire the next campus principals for both High Point Elementary and John C. Webb Elementary.
There were great questions asked and great discussions from everyone that served on the committees. While I wish that everyone could have that opportunity, both campuses should be very proud of their representation today.
The bad news is that it is going to be a couple of very tough decisions. The good news is that it is going to be tough because of the excellent quality of applicants that have interviewed. That is a good problem to have. And what you ultimately want for your district ... people that want to be here because of the direction that we are headed!
As the sign in the front yard reads ...
Proud to be a Rattler!
