RUTH BERNICE PHILLIPS 1929 – 2022

Ruth Bernice Merdian Phillips, 93, of Savannah, Tennessee, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

A gathering of family and friends took place Monday, January 2, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Lindley-Robertson- Holt Funeral Home. A rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, at. St. Mary Catholic Church Parish Hall, in Plantersville, with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant. The rite of committal followed in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Joel Allphin, Rookie Smith, Shane Johnson, Alan Phillips, Clayton Allphin, Justin Phillips, Houston Phillips and Reese Allphin.

Ruth was born Monday, July 22, 1929 in Plantersville to Martin and Annie Winkler Merdian. It was on May 20, 1950 the she was united in marriage to Daniel J. Phillips, who preceded her in death on March 23, 2018. Ruth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Savannah, TN and enjoyed going to church. She also enjoyed cooking, going to casinos and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Craig A. Phillips and his wife Diana H., Gary Phillips and his wife Lisa and Kevin Phillips and his wife Pam, all of Savannah, TN; sister, Ester Merdian Brewer of Navasota; grandchildren, Justin Phillips, Danielle Zulli, Lauren Netzel, Hannah Phillips and Houston Phillips along with great grandchildren, Chloe Zulli, Kaden Phillips, Charlotte Netzel, Greyson Netzel, Claire Zulli and Sadie Netzel.
