ROBERT (BOB) HOWARD TAYLOR
1938 – 2022
Bob was born on July 15, 1938, in Houston to Robert L. and Evelyn (Howard) Taylor.
While attending Sam Houston College, he was a member of the rodeo team. One weekend he went home with one of his college rodeo buddies, in Katy. It was there Bob met a dark eyed & dark hair high school girl, who quickly became the love of his life. He couldn’t wait to come back to Katy to see her. Bob & Marilyn married shortly after she graduated high school, in
Bob had several different occupations through his early years. But the one thing he loved, was the Oil & Gas business. In his 60’s, Bob was pleased to go back to the fields when he received a call from a friend in the business. He was asked to mentor some of the younger landmen and was thrilled. Bob showed them how to get out of the office, off the computer, and on the road to build personal relationships to get the job done. His old school approach was the ultimate example of hard work and perseverance. His reputation stretched to all the courthouses from county to county, here in Texas. Everyone knew Mr. Bob and loved visiting with him. Bob was an active landman up until 2018.
Bob was an avid musician and loved the mandolin. He thoroughly enjoyed playing bluegrass music with several amazing musicians. They travelled to local fairs and restaurants and entertained the crowds. Bob had the typical band “trinkets” on sale. They sold caps, Tshirts and CDs. Which he always tells everyone, their cd’s never went gold. They went “Cast Iron”.
