ELAINE RUTH GUSE
1935 – 2022
Elaine Ruth Guse, 86, of Anderson, passed away Monday, January 17, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Visitation with family and friends was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, at Nobles Funeral Chapel, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran cemetery in Anderson. Rev. Matthias Dinger will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Elaine was born in Morris, Minnesota on November 30, 1935 to Harry Curtis McAllister and Hanna Kristina “Christine” (Kolling) McAlister. She was one of five children. After high school graduation, Elaine pursued and obtained a BS in Nursing at the Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing and also obtained a BS in Health Administration at Kenney-Western University.
She married Albert Gottlieb Guse in Chokio, Minnesota on June 9, 1956, and together, they had three children. Elaine was a huge caretaker/provider personality and excelled in the nursing field. She held positions as the Director of Nursing in Rockdale, Texas, Cushing Oklahoma and finally in Brenham, Texas, eventually settling in Anderson, Texas.
Elaine enjoyed sewing, gardening and watching football – and she especially enjoyed the sport when they showed the yellow line so she knew where the 1st down was! She also enjoyed going to garage sales, reading books and visiting her grandchildren. Elaine loved attending church and being a part of her church family and a member of the LWML – Lutheran Women’s Ministry League. She loved most being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-inlaw, David Guse, Steven and Frances Guse and Tami Guse; grandchildren, Christopher Jundt and wife Megan, Joshua Guse, Ariel Guse, Scott Scrivener and wife Mari, Kelly Scrivener, Caleb Guse and wife Nicoma and Bryan Guse and wife Windy; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Erik and Caris; and great, great grandchildren Paisley and Hadley.
Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Guse, Christopher Jundt, Caleb Guse, Erik Scrivener, Christopher Abbot, Joshua Scrivener, Scott Scrivener and Kelly Scrivener.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert Guse; son, Richard Guse; brothers, Augustus, Leo and Floyd; and her sister, Pearl.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in her name be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota, Texas.
