Voices for Children meet and greet June 29
Voices for Children are hosting a meet and greet at Classic Rock Coffee Co. & Kitchen, 129 East Washington Avenue in Navasota June 29, from 4:30-6 p.m.
Voices for Children is driven by its mission to improve the lives of children in foster care through powerful volunteer advocacy until each child is placed in a safe and permanent home. Voices for Children is the local CASA program serving the Brazos Valley (Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, and Madison counties) aiming to train volunteer advocates to amplify the voices of children and families involved with the child welfare system.
When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to advocate for the child. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA. CASA volunteers are screened, highly trained, and appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child welfare system.
Since its founding in 2000, Voices for Children has worked to recruit and train volunteers from the community to serve as CASAs for children in foster care. CASA programs are made of, and for, the local community. A CASA Volunteer is a consistent presence in a child’s life during their time in foster care.
By giving financially, volunteering, or advocating for children involved in the child welfare system, everyone can help amplify the voices of children and ensure they are heard.
