VFW Auxiliary art contests
The Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary is hosting two art contests for local students to show off their artistic skills and promote patriotism.
VFW Auxiliary’s Illustrating America
The first contest encourages youth to share how they see the world of veterans. This contest rewards the artistic abilities of elementary and middle/junior high school students. The contest consists of three grade divisions: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. There are National awards for first, second and third place in each grade division. Entries are due to a local VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2022.
Qualifications and guidelines:
• The student must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• Coloring sheets, digital art and photography are not accepted.
• Student entries must be submitted to a sponsoring local VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2022.

VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest
Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country enter the VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. The first-place winner from each Department (state) advances to National judging and competes for National awards totaling $33,000.
Qualifications and guidelines:
• Students in grades 9-12 by the March 31 deadline who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools.
• Student must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.
• Foreign exchange students, students age 20 or older, GED and adult education students, or National winners of previous Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contests are ineligible.

• Entries received by local VFW Auxiliary - March 31.
