Urgent care seeks new Navasota location
Citizens and neighbors of 1539 E. Washington Avenue who voiced opposition to a conditional use permit for an urgent care center at that address can rest easy. Development Services Director Lupe Diosdado told The Examiner, “Palm Development has decided to withdraw their development plan application to City Council for 1539 E Washington Avenue.
Staff is working with their team to try and find a new location.”
At the Aug. 26 Planning and Zoning public hearing, 14 citizens shared their concerns that construction of the urgent care would result in “commercial creep” along Navasota’s east entrance with its stately old homes and oak trees.
P&Z commissioners voted unanimously against the permit stating the urgent care center didn’t meet the design standards of the Overlay District and that the citizens did not want it at that location.
