A tribute to the Queen

Canadian citizen and Navasota resident of 2 years, 96-year-old artist Geny Heywood stands in front of her artwork painted several years ago. It depicts Queen Elizabeth II (1926 - 2022) who died Sept. 8, after 70 years on the throne. Canada is a Commonwealth nation and each morning for 10 days following the Queen's death, Heywood displayed her art outside in front of her home. She is wearing a black mourning ribbon pinned to her blouse similar to one she wore when the Queen's father, King George VI (1895 - 1952) passed away.
