Thieves arrested on Church
Multiple agencies collaborated to capture three car thief suspects who fled on foot Monday evening, Feb. 17.
Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt stated officers responded to the 1100 block of Church Street for a report of a stolen vehicle . Myatt said a caller observed her relatives’ vehicle which was reported stolen the night of Feb. 15.
As officers approached, Myatt said three male subjects were observed walking away from the stolen vehicle. Officers attempted to contact the subjects, and they began to flee on foot. Myatt said Navasota Police officers pursued the subjects chasing them through several residential backyards. After pursuing them for several minutes the subjects were taken into custody.
“Officers located evidence on the subjects linking them to the stolen vehicle and obtained confessions,” stated Myatt.
The subjects were identified as Keyshawn Brown, age 18, from Brenham; Rubin Ethel and Trayvon Jessie both age 17, and both from Navasota. All three were booked into the Grimes County Jail and face charges for Engaging in Criminal Activity, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Third-Degree Felony) and Evading on Foot (Class A Misdemeanor).
Navasota Police searched the vehicle and found stolen property not belonging to the owner. Several items were confirmed stolen out of College Station from motor vehicle burglaries that occurred over the past few days. Additional charges are pending.
Assisting Navasota PD were Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Criminal Justice- Canine Division and the Grimes County Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden.
