Texas Silver Haired Legislator to speak at GCRW June 18

The Grimes County Republican Women’s June 18 meeting will feature Albert C. Campbell, Chairman of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature’s Strategic Planning Committee and nine term Representative from the Brazos Valley. The mission of the TSHL is to provide senior citizens an opportunity to become directly involved in the legislative process.

Campbell brings a wealth of education to his service in the TSHL with degrees in Business, Social Science and a doctorate in Adult and Occupational Education.

During his working career, this Korean War veteran has been a small-business owner, a Chamber of Commerce manager as well as a Police Magistrate and justice of the peace. His career in education includes teaching at the high school level, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and professorships at universities throughout the United States, including Texas A&M University.

Campbell has served in various capacities in organizations that include AARP, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Lions International, RSVP, and at present, is a director on the Hearne Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Brazos Valley Area of Aging Citizens Advisory Council.

The GCRW believe in the Republican philosophy that the right of the individual to achieve the best that is within him, as long as he respects the rights of others, is the source of our Nation’s strength and that equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity belong to all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin.

Join us in the Citizens State Bank meeting room the third Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch is $10 and begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the speaker, the monthly business meeting and ending at 1 p.m. Gentlemen are also welcomed to attend.
