A salute to veterans
Grimes County VFW Post 4006 is hosting a Veterans Day celebration Saturday, Nov. 6, beginning with a parade at 10 a.m.
Veterans, the community and all businesses are urged to participate in the parade. Parade line-up will begin 9-9:30 a.m. along Brosig Avenue by Brule Elementary School. The parade will travel Washington Avenue and conclude past the Railroad Street crossing. Participation in the parade is free.
After the conclusion of the parade, a raffle and silent auction will be held at the Post, 1575 W. Washington Ave. in Navasota.
Raffle items include: a fire pit ($300), grill ($200), dental products ($245), Lottery tickets ($85), golf ($120), tickets to Grand Central Station ($125), wine tasting ($100 for 10 people), Yesterday’s ($100), flag, pole, bracket ($100), Certificate to Baylor Lumber ($100), Honey basket ($85-100), Adult beverage basket ($100), wreath, afghan, gardening items ($65), gift basket from McCoy’s ($75), plus other gift cards for eateries and other goodies. Tickets may be purchased from any auxiliary member or at the Post prior to the raffle beginning at 2 p.m.
The community will also have the opportunity to sign Christmas cards being sent to VA Hospitals. There will also be a VA Representative to answer any VA related questions and assist with registering for VA assistance.
Food will be available for purchase by Grill Sergeant. The Flight Deck Lounge at the VFW will also be open.
