Pecan Lakes burglary suspect arrested
A Washington County man, 20-year-old Nathanial Williams, was arrested Monday, Sept. 6, as he was attempting to enter parked vehicles in the Pecan Lakes subdivision in Navasota.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a resident in the Pecan Lakes subdivision observed a suspicious person walking around to several vehicles checking door handles to see if they were unlocked. Navasota Police responded and located a vehicle that had been burglarized.
A Grimes County Sherriff Deputy and a Navasota Police Officer enroute to the subdivision observed a vehicle matching that of the suspect, fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 100 block of 3rd Street. Williams was detained, and officers located stolen property belonging to a burglary victim in Washington County. Officers also located a firearm outside the vehicle and other evidence linking Williams to burglaries.
Williams was arrested and charged with burglary of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
