Officers identify deceased body

Navasota Police officers released the name of a deceased man that was located near the corner of Willie Street and Foster Street on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 14.

The deceased was identified as Juan Alberto Torres Segura, 51, of Navasota. Torres, originally from Mexico, had a work visa and was employed at a local ranch.

According to Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt, Navasota Police and Navasota Fire Department were dispatched around 8:45 a.m. They located Torres who was unresponsive. Myatt said investigators spoke with many citizens and his roommates and learned that Torres was walking to the washeteria when he was found.

Grimes County justice of the peace Mark Laughlin pronounced Torres deceased and requested an autopsy.

Myatt stated that at this time there is no evidence of foul play.
