Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt stated two African-American males wearing hoodies left the bank and fled into a wooded area behind the bank. The area is located near Brule Field and has a small creek that runs through it.
Myatt stated there was a black four-door sedan parked by the center of the school. It is believed to be a Honda Civic, Honda Accord or similar model vehicle. Police are searching for two suspects that fled the bank and a possible third suspect who may have been driving the get-away vehicle.
Brule Elementary and the Navasota Independent School District were on a temporary “soft lockdown,” with students remaining in their classrooms and no one being allowed in or out of the schools. Navasota ISD Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick stated at approximately 12:43 p.m. they received the all-clear from Navasota PD to resume normal operations.
Myatt stated search dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice were brought in to search the area, but he believes the suspects have fled the area.
According to Myatt no one was injured during the robbery. Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to contact Navasota Police Department, 936-825-6410 or call 911.
