Navasota honoring MLK Jr.

Navasota is hosting its annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration Saturday, Jan. 18. This year’s theme is “Keeping in Step with the Dream.”
Celebrations will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. Lineup will start 9 a.m. on Brosig Avenue and will travel west on Washington Avenue and south on LaSalle concluding at G.W. Carver Community Center.
A memorial program will follow the parade at the Progressive Outreach Center, 615 W. Virginia Street. Keynote address will be presented by Mrs. Vanikin Sanders Leggett, principal at Brule Elementary School.
Other performances will include orators, singers, dancers etc. Food and other venders will be on-site. If you are interested in being a vendor, there will be a $50 registration fee.
Parade participation is free (donations encouraged) and churches, businesses, organizations, public officials, motorcycle groups, horse riding clubs and others are encouraged to participate.
