Grimes County Sheriffs’s Deputies were involved in a multi-county pursuit Tuesday afternoon that ended in Harris County.

Around 3:27 p.m. a GCSO Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Texas 249 near CR 304.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said the vehicle attempted to elude the deputy changing directions multiple times before heading southbound on Texas 249.

The dangerous pursuit continued into Montgomery County with the suspect weaving in and out of traffic. The pursuit eventually ended in Harris County at a Walmart near Louetta and Telge Road.

Sowell said a GCSO vehicle was damaged, two vehicles in the Walmart parking lot were damaged and the suspects vehicle caught fire.

The suspect is being transported to the Grimes County Jail. The name of the suspect and charges he faces have not been released.

Sowell said, “Suspects fleeing from officers has become too common and stiffer punishment needs to be given to suspects who flee law enforcement.”

More details will be released as they are available.
