Missing man located and transported to hospital

Matthew Steven McMillen, the 35-year-old Grimes County man who was reported missing Thursday, March 30, was located Friday afternoon.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell stated around 12:50 p.m., McMillen was located in the woods near North Mount Mariah Road and Texas 105, between Plantersville and Montgomery. Sowell said he appeared to be intoxicated and had burn injuries. He was transported to a burn center for treatment.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a house fire on Lakecrest Drive between Plantersville and Montgomery. McMillen reportedly lives at the residence with his father. The home was a total loss and McMillen was nowhere to be found. Montgomery County Fire Marshall’s Office began investigating the fire. Grimes County Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate the missing man. An Endangered Missing Person Alert was issued Friday.

The cause of the fire has not been released, but Sowell said McMillen is a person of interest. Anyone with information is urged to contact Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, 936-873-2151.
