Mancuso pitches in TCL All-Star Game
Josh Mancuso pitched in the recent Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game.
The Anderson-Shiro High School graduate represented the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the summer classic.
“It was cool,” the Nicholls State University lefthander said. “It was fun.”
He car ried a 3-1 record, one save and 3.75 earned run average into the all-star game, where he said he pitched one inning and allowed multiple runs in his team’s loss.
“I was getting ahead in the count,” he said. “I couldn’t make the quality put-away pitches.”
Mancuso was the league’s pitcher of the week in mid-June. He was recognized for his performance in two consecutive outings.

“I’m using the summer time to get better with mechanics,” he said. “I’ve been working on different pitches in different counts, getting more confident.”
Mancuso also is working on his mindset. He was mainly a reliever for Nicholls State during the spring, when he had a 2-1 record and 4.74 ERA in 16 appearances, including three starts. But he started six of his

He is preparing to be a starter when school resumes. “If not, I’ll be the best reliever I can be,” he said.

Pitcher Tyler Eppler had a 4-4 record and 4.29 ERA in 15 starts for Kiwoom in the Korea Baseball Organization. The Navasota High product had consecutive no-decisions in his last two June appearances.
Men’s basketball
Trajan Wesley will play at Prairie View A & M University after four years at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The Navasota resident averaged 4.6 points as a junior guard last year, when he ranked second on the team in assists.
