Juneteenth celebration Saturday, June 18
ANDERSON – The 19th of June Association is hosting their annual Juneteenth celebration Saturday, June 18.
The Association, celebrating 82 years, begins their celebration with pop up shops on Main Street in historic downtown Anderson. A parade follows at 11 a.m. The parade begins at Hillside Community Center, which is the site of the old school on Highway 90 in Anderson. The community is invited to participate in the parade on horseback, wagons, cars and other decorated vehicles. It is asked that parade participants not ride bicycles, stallions or cut into the parade once it begins.
A free barbecue dinner will be served at the Juneteenth Fairgrounds. At 7 p.m., The Juneteenth Rodeo begins at the Grimes County Fairgrounds, 5220 FM 3455 in Navasota. Admission for adults is $10 and $5 for children age 6-12. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
