Iola FFA members win Grand Champion
IOLA- A pair of Iola FFA members won Grand Champion at separate livestock shows. Cason Carter won Grand Champion at the Dixie Nationals Livestock Show in Jackson, MS, Feb. 9, and Jordyn Trant won Reserve Grand Champion at the San Antonio Livestock Show Feb. 13.
“Both of these students exemplify that hard work pays off,” said Iola FFA Advisor Corey Ferguson. “They both work daily with their projects to ensure their heifers receive the best care possible.”
Carter is a sophomore at Iola High School and is the president of the Iola FFA Chapter. His Charlais heifer named “Mamie 2.0” was born and raised in Iola by Carson and his stepbrother Braden House.
Trant is a seventh grader at Iola. Her heifer was also born and raised in Iola by her aunt Hillary Trant.
“The fact that both of these show heifers were born and raised here in Grimes County and are winning National Titles is a testament to the quality of cattle we have in this county,” said Ferguson.
