Impersonation of Navasota Police Chief
Special to The Examiner
An email scam involving persons posing as Navasota Police Chief Mike Mize has been discovered.
According to a press release issued by the city of Navasota, emails circulating falsely claim to represent Navasota Police Chief Mike Mize, the City of Navasota or Navasota Police Department, while soliciting the opportunity to become collection agents on behalf of The City/Police Department.
The spam email, policechiefmichaelmize@gmail.com, claims the Navasota Police Chief is from Tomball and is requesting money from citizens and/or money in return for giving information.
The City, Navasota Police Department, and Chief of Police Mike Mize have no involvement with these fraudulent practices and do not make such solicitations.
Navasota Police and city officials urge the community to be aware of this scam, and if they receive email solicitations from anyone posing as The City, Navasota Police Department or Navasota Police Chief that appears even remotely suspicious to contact The City, 936-825-6408 immediately.
