Half of county’s 2017 strategic priorities completed
Grimes County Commissioners Court held a Special Meeting Wednesday, Jan. 22, to conduct a Strategic Plan Workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to review the 67 priority items that evolved from the citizen “listening sessions” in 2015 which resulted in the development of the Grimes County Strategic Plan in 2017.
During the two-hour workshop, commissioners reviewed the 67 issues identified in 2015, and finding several redundancies, were able to shorten the list to 65 items.
By the end of the meeting, 32 priorities such as county website updates, establishing a system for road repair or paving, or expanding the county’s hours of operation were found to have been completed, or have a process in place to address the issue.
Other citizen concerns such as internet speed and digitizing all county records, though not complete, have made significant progress thereby shortening the expected term of completion.
Commissioners deemed some items as ongoing concerns and created an “annual review” category. For other issues, action taken was to assign or reassign a commissioner to the remaining uncompleted projects.
