Great Gatsby Festival Oct. 23
ANDERSON – Grimes County Historical Commission is hosting their inaugural Great Gatsby Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 23, at Historic Anderson Park, 212 S. Main Street in Anderson from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The fun-filled family event includes a Lil Ms. History Princess Pageant from noon till 3 p.m. on the Historic Anderson Park stage. Ms. Teen Texas, Anissa Mendez, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the pageant. Miss Southeast Texas, Angela Witzkoske, and Grimes County Fair Queen, Emma Shaw, will be judges. There are three age categories: 3-6, 7-10 and 11-14. Registration is free, and crowns/ sashes will be awarded to first, second and third-place finalists. Live music will be headlined by Ben Morris and the Great American Boxcar Chorus. The festival will feature craft vendors, food trucks, a pie and hot dog eating contest, bounce house, grape stomping, a pumpkin patch, games and more. There will also be free Blue Bell ice cream available.
The festival is free but tickets for games will be available for purchase at the gate. All proceeds will benefit the restoration of Historic Anderson Park. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and sunscreen and be ready for a day of fun!
